The Name

OWNY (pronounced Own-E or Oh-Knee) is a play on combination of own and NY which works as a business empowering agents to run their business and keep their hard earned money as illustrated in our tag line OWN your NY based real estate business and it also works for consumers who desire to OWN a NY home.  The company is launching in the Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse metropolitan areas with expansion plans to Albany, New York City and Long Island.

The Company

OWNY Real Estate was founded on the premise that the traditional franchise business model and other broker-centric models aren't a fit for today's agent and are no longer effective for a large percentage of the real estate community.

OWNY's idea was to create a simple and cost effective, broker/agent relationship where the broker is a service provider for the agent.  The vision was realized by separating traditional realty services from essential brokerage services and leveraging the OWNY team's significant technology based industry experience.  In doing so, OWNY has created a truly unique Brokerage Services Company for savvy and smart real estate professionals.

The Broker

J Jon Desnoyers has been a broker since 2001 and has been a high volume listing agent (100+ homes in a single year) and later led teams that have listed and sold 1000's of homes.  He transitioned from actively working with clients to serve as an executive for a number of national real estate technology companies over the past several years. 

He's worked closely with brokers and agents from all over the country and has seen a lot of models/companies come and go.   He knows what works and he's bringing that knowledge to OWNY to the benefit of smart agents across New York State.

How?

It shouldn't really be news to you that the overhead of large offices isn't necessary in today's environment.  Agents can work from home and that's one of the core drivers of the model - keeping the broker's cost low so you can keep your hard earned commissions.  We do maintain a modest office in Williamsville for occasional agent training and agents may use to meet clients but usually you meet them out in the field. It's simply about recognizing and embracing change while leveraging technology and it's efficiency. What's at that big corporate office that you really need and can't set up yourself at home?

OWNY is focused on offering agents flexibility and cost control while providing them a host of services that can simplify and streamline their business operations while they build their personal realty brand and income. 

Who?

Smart agents that want to improve efficiency and make more money.  OWNY offers agent training and full broker support for new agents (even with a plan to help offset start up costs) and 100% commission plans suited for agents with experience who can thrive on their own.  OWNY's role is to support those savvy agents and give them all the technical tools to run their business and promote their brand.
